Duties

• Properly document and seize cellular phones, computers, computer storage media and electronic storage devices from crime scenes and other locations.
• Conduct forensic examinations of cellular phones, computer systems, components and storage media and electronic storage devices to obtain evidence contained within.
• Perform duties in a variety of environments with a broad range and length of hours with limited notification.
• Gather, develop and organize criminal intelligence and submit reports
• Operate department vehicles and crime scene equipment.
• Maintain specialized equipment assigned to the Investigative Services Section.
• Prepare reports documenting examination procedures and results.
• Prepares crime specific bulletins and distributes them as required.
• Attend training and show proficiency of knowledge.
• Coordinate with various department sections and outside governmental agencies to effectively prosecute cases.
• Attends meetings with external organizations related to the position.
• Operate with an understanding and practice of operational secrecy.
• Prepares subpoenas for evidence collection.
• Review and prepare written reports to mandated standards.
• Provide training to department personnel who may encounter electronic evidence in the course of their duties.
• Provide witness testimony in legal and court proceedings.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or generally accepted equivalent.
• One (1) year of prior experience in a field involving digital forensics with a law enforcement agency preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in digital forensics or a related field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.

A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
