Job Description

Real Estate Valuations Officer

Reports to Real Estate Valuations Manager

General Summary:

Provides assistance and support to the functions of the Appraisal Department, which primarily includes the ordering and review of appraisals and preparation of evaluations for real estate secured credits. Communicates with external appraisers as well as internal lending personnel regarding appraisal orders, value decisions, and technical aspects of appraisal assignments.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform the ordering, tracking, and receiving of appraisal reports for residential appraisal requests, including the writing, sending, and receiving of engagement letters; and updating of the Appraisal Log.

Provide and review Automated Valuation Model (AVM) reports in support of consumer loan requests.

Assist, as needed, with the ordering, tracking, and receiving of appraisal reports for commercial appraisal requests, as requested, including the writing, sending, and receiving of engagement letters; the processing of and invoices; and updating of the Appraisal Log.

Assist with the receiving, processing, and distribution of appraisal supporting documents (e.g. leases, title reports, rent rolls, operating statements, flood certificates, etc.) for both residential and commercial appraisal requests.

Conduct reviews of residential appraisal reports for SFR, condominium, and TIC properties, and ensure that appraisal reports conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) and meet the minimum appraisal standards set forth in the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.

Conduct reviews of commercial appraisal reports, which includes preparing a summary of salient facts from the reports, as requested, and ensure that appraisal reports conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP) and meet the minimum appraisal standards set forth in the Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.

Job Skill Level / Additional Requirements:

Strong understanding of real estate valuation methodologies and valuation approaches and analyses for both residential and commercial real estate.

Strong computer skills including, at a minimum, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with DocuSign is helpful.

Strong communication skills, with ability to quickly understand and communicate concepts both verbally and in written form.

Be a team contributor as evidenced by positive attitude toward assisting others with job responsibilities as needed, and treatment of co-workers in a positive and respectful manner. Be able to acknowledge knowledge gaps and ability to receive and act on feedback in a positive manner.

Present a positive and professional appearance/demeanor to both internal and external contacts including other bank employees, vendors, service providers, etc.

Certified General Appraisal License in California required

Professional Experience:

2 – 4 years related experience and/or training.

Educational Experience:

Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or training.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
