The Assembler is responsible for assembling and inspecting manufactured goods prior to being placed in inventory or released for order fulfillment. The Assembler ensures products are functioning as intended and are free of defects per set quality standards. The Assembler works as part of a larger team, frequently interacting with other manufacturing and quality control personnel in contribution to team goals and Customer expectations. The Assembler uses a variety of hand tools, commercial grade sewing machines, air and electric powered tools, and hydraulic competencies to complete their work in a safe and efficient manner. The Assembler will also provide back-up support to other production-based positions in the facility including material handling and shipping/receiving.

1. Understand general manufacturing principles and ability to identify different raw materials needed to complete product
2. Perform work independently and within teams: ability to read and carefully follow work instructions (written procedures and hands on training)
3. Maintain and achieve productivity standards on moderately challenging assemblies by utilizing work instructions, prints, schematics, and/or standard work
4. Maintain and perform high quality work (meet the published quality standards and overall Customer satisfaction standards)
5. Maintain safe and healthy work areas and identify and remove hazards in accordance to all regulations; actively hold self and teammates accountable to safe working conditions including all needed and/or required personal protective equipment (PPE)
6. Apply and execute Lean principles including maintaining a standard of 5S/abnormality management, identifying and removing wastes, problem solving, and participation in continuous improvement activities
7. Other duties as needed
1. Minimum 18 months of working in a team based, quality oriented, Customer focused production environment.
2. Demonstrated attention to detail, focus on quality of work, right the first time through mindset.
3. Must be able to read, follow work instructions, write details about production processes including basic organizational and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
4. Sound working knowledge of all related manufacturing equipment and its purposes.
5. Proven ability to take direction, to listen, learn, and work in a team environment. Ability to effectively communicate with teammates and leadership.
6. Understanding of and willingness to adhere to STERIS Values and support our Mission and Vision.
7. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment.
8. Willing to work overtime and weekends, flexible shifts as needed.
1. 1 or more years’ experience with textiles or fabrics
2. 1 or more years’ experience with upholstery or similar processes
